Vanessa Hébert RM, BHSc, MA, PhD (Cand.)


PhD Student


Vanessa Hébert is a registered midwife currently pursuing a PhD in the clinical epidemiology stream of the Health Research Methodology (HRM) program at McMaster University. Vanessa obtained her BHSc in midwifery from Laurentian University. Prior to becoming a midwife, she completed her MA at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University and worked in the field of international development and global health. Vanessa’s doctoral research will explore the effectiveness of oxytocin prophylaxis in reducing the risk of postpartum hemorrhage when labour and birth have been physiologic. Her research interests include physiologic birth, midwifery services, health systems, and postpartum hemorrhage.
